One of my favorite things about Indiana is that the seasons change.  Leaves turn bright shades of orange, red and yellow in the fall; white snow covers the ground in the winter; and the grass turns a vibrant shade of green in the spring.  While I love the changing seasons, I do miss the fun outdoor concerts, farmers markets, park visits of spring, summer and fall.  So, when it gets too cold to do those fun outdoor activities- I eat!  Every week this winter I will highlight 1 of my favorite Hamilton County, Indiana restaurants.  As a foodie (my definition of foodie is simply someone who loves to eat), I will happily talk about the small diners, the "hole in the wall" eateries, the fancy French bistros, the big restaurants and more.  NOW, onto the good stuff - enjoy, and feel free to share your own favorite Hamilton County, Indiana dining spots!

Red Onion - In 2006, the current owner of the Red Onion took over the family business with one goal in mind - give Sheridan a delicious, but casual, dining experience.  They offer an amazing menu at a reasonable price -some entrees are a mere $4.99!  After chatting with my co-workers on their thoughts of the Red Onion - I noticed 1 thing was repeatedly mentioned - their tenderloin.  The tasty tenderloin is the size of a large plate, about 7 inches, and is topped with a bun made especially for them by a local bakery.  Have a smaller appetite?  No worries, they have a Junior tenderloin with the same great taste.  Sheridan is located in Northern Hamilton County, but this unique destination is worth the drive!

It is unfortunate that the Red Onion closed. They had the 2nd best tenderloin in Sheridan. Thankfully the best breaded tenderloin is still available at Casey's on Main Street!

Hi Aimee - I haven't ever had the burger there! I have asked a few of my co-workers and we all stick with the tenderloin. But if it is anything like that yummy sandwich, I am sure it is delicious.
