Today our guest blogger is the Hamilton County CVB's Community & Events Manager, Judy Erner. This past weekend, she traveled to two different county farm markets:
This past Saturday morning I visited two Hamilton County, Indiana farm markets. The day began at 8 a.m. at the Carmel market. Even though we were in the middle of a morning rain shower, all of the 30+ vendors were ready to sell their fresh produce and other goods. By 8:30 a.m., it was only lightly misting, and the crowd was growing!
As a frequent Carmel Farm Market shopper, one thing I have noticed each year is that all of the vendors are very friendly and willing to answer any random question you may have. There are a variety of things for sale; fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious baked goods, meats, wine, soaps, honey, flowers and plants. If you arrive with an empty stomach – no worries – the market even has different organizations selling fresh coffee, water and great breakfast treats.
Moving on from the Carmel's market I drove to Noblesville- and sadly, the mist followed. The Noblesville market felt like a fun social event for people – and their pets. Breakfast items are for sale, and tables are set up for guests to sit and chat with friends.
The Noblesville Farm Market has between 30-35 vendors who sell fresh produce, bakery items, meats, plants and soaps. They also offer arts & crafts vendors that sell tie-dyed shirts, handmade jewelry, soaps and doggie treats.
In the close to four hours that I spent at the two markets, I didn't get too wet and got all the goodies I wanted. If you are in the area, these markets are a definitely must visit!
