Digging through the Past, Building to the Future

Sep 14, 2010 by Hamilton County CVB

[caption id="attachment_2582" align="alignleft" width="198" caption="Archaeology digs at Strawtown Koteewi Park "][/caption] Tuesdays-Saturdays from September 14 through October 2, Strawtown Koteewi Park is celebrating archaeology month - make time to visit the park and dig for exciting finds. On Saturday, September 18, from 2 – 6 p.m. the Park is hosting "Digging through the Past, Building to the Future," a fall afternoon of archaeology tours, live animal displays, kids activities, and wagon rides.  Bison and elk burgers, Nelson's port-a-pit chicken and other yummy food vendors will be available on site. The day also features music from Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana Drum Circle, Circle City Bluegrass Band, and Shilombish Native American Flute Ensemble. For this event, we have four dinner vouchers that we are giving away on the blog today (admission to the event is free).  This contest ends tomorrow, September 15 at 9 a.m.  To win, leave a comment, any comment, on this post.  I will pick the winner at random. For more information on the daily celebrations or the Saturday event, call 317-770-4448 or visit MyHamiltonCountyParks.com. Coming for the weekend and need ideas on Hamilton County, Indiana lodging? We really enjoy Strawtown Koteewi Park trail. Great for seeing birds and wild flowers and the exhibits and staff are great. It's nice place to take a break, learn a bit about the area/history and it's a super nice facility. Love Indian history and the archaeology digs are super! Hope to attend during the weekends.
