8 Great Things to Do for the Fourth Weekend in July 2011

If you are already planning a weekend getaway to Hamilton County’s 8 Great Towns or want to take a last minute Indiana vacation, here are 8 Great Things to do in Hamilton County, Indiana this weekend.  Don't let the hot weather stop you. We have plenty of cool things to do!

1. Dance the night away at the 20th Annual Noblesville Street Dance. Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy food, a beer garden, a classic car show, live entertainment and, of course, dancing, Saturday 5 to 11 p.m. The event is free but there is an additional charge for food and drink.

2. Cool down from the hot week with Jazz on the Monon, featuring The Splinter Group. This free concert starts Saturday at 6 p.m. on the southwest corner of the Monon & Main Street in Carmel, Indiana. 3. Discover local history on a student-led walking tour of Noblesville, Indiana. The City of Noblesville is offering the free tours on Fridays and Saturdays, 1 and 3 p.m., now through August 27. 4. Climb aboard the Great Towns train in Noblesville, Indiana, with the Indiana Transportation Museum. Check this weekend’s schedule and plan a fun adventure for your family. Cost: $14 round-trip for adults (age 13 and up); $6 for children age 2 through 12 and FREE for children under the age of 2 5. Enjoy the big band sounds of the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra in Carmel, Indiana. The free concert, which is part of the Coxhall Gardens Concerts in the Centerpiece series, starts Sunday at 6 p.m. 6. Cool down with a yogurt treat from Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt. Choose your favorite flavor and pile on the toppings. Orange Leaf has two new area locations – in Carmel and Fishers. 7. See Arlo Guthrie’s debut performance at Symphony on the Prairie with the ISO’s ensemble-in-residence, Time for Three. Enjoy a mix of folk, jazz, bluegrass and other popular styles. Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers, Indiana. Cost: $22 for adults; $11 for children in advance or $27 for adults and $13 for children at the gate. 8.
