Hamilton County Hospitality Team
Volunteer Job Description
Each year, Hamilton County hosts sports events, meetings, conferences and a variety of other events that bring in thousands of visitors to the community. The Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau offers a Hospitality Team to help welcome these out-of-area guests at hotels, at the events themselves and at major attractions when needed.
Hospitality Team members will receive initial training on Hamilton County's lodging, dining and attractions and will make site visits to these major locations. Ongoing training will include additional site visits and updated insider information regarding the community's tourism product.
Volunteers for this position need to have a fairly outgoing personality as you will meet and greet hundreds of individuals and share information with them one-on-one and sometimes in front of small groups - although public speaking will not be required. While you will be trained about Hamilton County's amenities, you will not be required to memorize them. An information book will be available.
In addition, while volunteer shifts will be kept manageable (4 hours or less), the position might require stamina depending on the size of the event and the crowd. Transportation is required to and from the site, which will be somewhere in Hamilton County. The Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau will provide you with one logo shirt to wear at these events, and volunteers will be asked to wear khaki slacks or walking style shorts. Sneakers are permitted.
Everyone from responsible high school students to seniors is welcome to apply. We ask that you make a one-year commitment to the organization and participate in at least three events annually in order to maintain active in the program. You will have ample notice - at least one month's notice - for most volunteer positions.
In addition to logo wear provided, volunteers will get complimentary tickets to area attractions and events on an ongoing basis, meet other volunteers in quarterly training and update sessions, get the county's tourism e-newsletter and have behind-the-scenes tours. You will be part of an exciting and innovative hospitality program and provide a great service to your community.
