Penrod Arts Fair
When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7, Indianapolis Museum of Art, 4000 Michigan Road. $15 in advance, $20 at the door; free for ages 10 and younger.
What: The 47th annual event features more than 300 artists, six stages, booths by more than 50 arts-related nonprofits and a huge children's area.
Indy Irish Fest

What: Irish rock and traditional music on four stages, Irish dancing, hurling demonstrations, kids games and crafts, Irish brews, array of food.

What: This celebration of Latino culture will feature music and dance performances, food booths, a beer tent, and interactive activities for kids.
Indianapolis Chinese Festival
When: Noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 21, Military Park, 601 W. New York St. Free.
What: Food, vendors, arts and crafts, dancing and music, Tai Chi demonstration, children's activities.
Avon Community Heritage Festival
When: 10 a.m. to dusk Sept. 28, Washington Township Community Park, 115 S. County Road 575 East, Avon. Free.
What: Festival kicks off with a parade starting at Kingsway Christian Church, 7981 E. County Road 100 North. Includes live music, vendors, food, games and fireworks.
Fishers Oktoberfest at Saxony
When: Noon to 10 p.m. Sept. 28, Witten Park, 13257 Saxony Blvd., Fishers. Free. Bring canned goods or a new toy for the Good Samaritan Network of Hamilton County.
What: German food, crafts, beer garden, kids activities, live music.

Franklin Fall Festival

What: Live entertainment, kids zone, baking contest, parade and more.
Fishers Renaissance Faire

What: Jousting, period music and dance, Shakespeare vignettes.
