HAMILTON COUNTY (August 15, 2011)-The Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau recognizes

the extraordinary works of the county's hospitality industry through its Star Awards, a

hospitality recognition program. Jeff Eaton and the Barley Island Brewing Company received a

special Star Award in August for their hospitality during the National Softball Association

Girls Fastpitch "B" World Series.

Jeff Eaton, president and founder of Barley Island Brewing Company, received a call on the

Tuesday of the tournament from a team that was looking for a place to eat. Even though they were

just 20 minutes away from the restaurant and had more than 30 people in their group, Eaton

didn't hesitate to invite them to come over to the restaurant. He quickly called in an

additional cook and alerted his wait staff. They were able to seat the group in the same area

and take all their orders at one time, even though they were on several separate checks. Jeff

and his team also honored the "Kids Eat Free" Tuesday night special offer, providing

eight free meals to players.

To recognize Barley Island Brewing, last week the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau

presented Jeff with a special Star Award, along with a Simon gift card and some individual

chocolates to distribute to the entire staff.

The Bureau will select eight Star Award winners in 2011. Individual nominees must work or

volunteer for county attractions, shops, hotels, restaurants or other tourism-related

businesses. Candidates should possess an excellent record of customer service, a professional

attitude, a courteous and kind manner, and a willingness to go beyond what is required to

welcome the community's 1.8 million visitors annually.

application under Nominate a Tourism STAR. Winners will receive a recognition gift. All nominees

will be acknowledged for their efforts.
