The Summer Scorecard
While you’ll find a youth sporting event going on every weekend (and most weeknights) all summer long in Hamilton County, there are two big events drawing not only athletes, but plenty of fans.

Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel will host the IHSAA Boys Golf State Championships June 16-17, where teams and individuals will play 36 holes for the state title.

The National Softball Association World Series (ages 8-18) will take place at Grand Park in Westfield, Noblesville High School and in Fishers at Holland Park, Fishers High School and the Olio Road Fields July 20-26.

Spring Events Draw Record Crowds
If you thought it seemed busier than usual in Hamilton County this spring, that’s because local events had record attendance. The Carmel Marathon is now a premier race for marathoners. The April 18 event drew more than 4,000 participants, who either ran the marathon or one of the shorter distance races. People came from 35 different states and four different countries.

In its first event in Hamilton County, Project GLOC (Gorgeous Ladies of Crossfit), had a record attendance for its two-day competition in April. The group is already planning events for 2016 and 2017 at Roundtrippers in Westfield. Also in its first year was Regions Archery at the new Koteewi Range in Strawtown Koteewi Park. The two-day tournament in May drew 42 archers, and it’s one that will only continue, but is expected to grow as more people discover the top-notch facilities.

Sagamore Golf Club in Noblesville hosted the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regional in May, which brought 14 teams from around the country. Ball State was the official host school of the tournament, and worked with the Hamilton County Sports Authority. Sagamore was one of six regional sites around the country. The Jack Nicklaus-designed course served as the host for the 2010 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championships.
