Tuesday was a busy day for the Hamilton County CVB! As some of you may have heard, we had the pleasure of hosting Ted Allen in the county. When we decided to do a food campaign to promote local dining, we immediately thought of Ted Allen. First, he is a Hamilton County native and he hosts several Food Network shows, making him a perfect person to support local restaurants, farmers markets and wineries. We started a day with a photo shoot at the Fern of Westfield (look for the pictures in 2010). In the first shot, we had Ted surrounded by delicious pies from around the county. These sweet dessert treats came from Sahm's in Fishers, Uptown Cafe and the Hamilton Restaurant in Noblesville, Lisa's Pies in Atlanta, Shapiro's and MCL in Carmel, Peterson's in Fishers and Nature's Cottage in Westfield. I spent a morning in a room filled with apple pie, rhubarb pie, coconut buttermilk cream pie, key lime pie and much, much more (and I managed to somehow stay strong enough to avoid sneaking a bite!). The next photo was of Ted and some of our most famous local tenderloins. Woody's in Carmel, Nickel Plate, Fionn MacCools and Sahm's in Fishers, the Red Onion in Sheridan, Keltie's and Bucky's in Westfield and Mudsock's in Noblesville all donated perfectly cooked tenderloins for the picture (which turned out great). Again, I was able to will myself from gobbling up a sandwich. We finished the day with an Open House at the Historic Ambassador House & Heritage Gardens. Ted was kind enough to take some time to meet our local restaurateurs, as well as some local media (and I finally got to have a piece of pie!). It was a great way to spend a work-day - Mr. Allen was a joy to work with and I am even more certain he is the perfect person to help promote the amazing dining in Hamilton County, Indiana. I am looking forward to using these pictures in our 2010 food campaign - be sure to keep a look out for the ads (and dine local!). An extra special thanks to Loni from 28 Star Studio in Carmel, Danielle from The Makeup Studio, Peterson's Restaurant for sending over their sous chef, Jeff, to help us style the food, to 360 group, to the Fern of Westfield, to the Ambassador House and to all of our partners for making the day so special!
