Visitors are welcomed to hop on board the Fishers Explorer Train! The Indiana Transportation Museum, an operating museum, manages the gears behind the train ride. The Fishers Explorer Train travels from Forest Park, to a scenic route to the Fishers Train Station, yet the journey doesn’t stop at the station. Visitors are dropped off for a one-hour exploration of the town of Fishers. The town can cater to visitors’ needs within a small walking distance.

It's only a short walk from the train station to art! Art in Town Hall is a free public art gallery located steps away from the Fishers Train Station. The current exhibit is "Art Visions of Fishers," featuring local artists Tomas Howie, Holly LaDue Ulrich and Paula Varriano. Art in Town Hall will welcome you with memorable artwork in a comfortable two-story gallery.

Chug along to the Nickel Plate Bar and Grill if the trip makes your stomach growl. The Nickel Plate offers a variety of entrees including soups, sandwiches, a kid-friendly menu as well as their pork tenderloin sandwich that was named Best by Indy Men’s Magazine. The restaurant’s original building was constructed in the 1880’s so the atmosphere remains as if you were dinning in a pub.

If you have more of a sweet tooth, halt your caboose for some scoops of ice cream at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt. Handel’s has over 100 flavors to choose from! The seasonal specials are Cinnamon Sticky Bun, Deep Dish Apple Pie, Peanut Butter and Orange Pineapple. It was also voted “Best Ice-Cream” by RTV-6 for five years in a row.

Conduct your group to Gigi’s Cup Cakes if you want to satisfy your sugar craving. The menu of the custom treats changes everyday! On Saturdays the visitors have a variety of options such as: Birthday Surprise, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Midnight Magic. Once you load up on cupcakes you can browse the boutiques for some cargo.

Sound the railroad-crossing bell, as you cross the street from the Fishers Train Station to reach Gallery 116. Gallery 116 is a store filled with re-purposed clocks, vibrant dishes, and other home décor. It also carries handcrafted jewelry, watches and a collection of local art.

Unfortunately you only have one hour to spend exploring before you have to hop back on the train to depart, but come back and visit because Fishers is only a train stop away!
