With fall in the air here in Hamilton County, I could not wait to get out and experience autumn. On Saturday, my family, along with 2 other couples and their toddler aged sons, gathered together in Forest Park to ride the Pumpkin Train. It was a chilly afternoon (high 40s), so we were all bundled up as we hopped aboard. The boys squealed in delight as they heard the whistle blow. Choo choo was heard over and over from our seats. The coach attendants made sure we looked out the window as we traveled past good scenic spots, like the tree lined Morse Reservoir. We arrived to the pumpkin patch in Cicero about 20 minutes later. We chased after the boys as they visited the small petting zoo, stared in awe at tractors, wandered through the corn maze and picked out pumpkins (we ended up with 2 small pumpkins). We sipped on hot chocolate until we heard the "All aboard!" We got to experience the train ride, the pumpkin patch and the fall colors. The entire trip was a little over an hour and a half long - the perfect amount of time. So if you are looking for a fun, fall Indiana family vacation, be sure to hop aboard one of the train trips that travel through some of the scenic towns of Hamilton County.
