Why you walk into a gallery or through an arts festival, do you ever find yourself wondering how the artist got their start? Lynda Pitz, the publicity chair for the Carmel International Arts Festival shares a wonderful story of how love - both on stage and off - led one couple to a life of art.

Dan and Marian Albright met on the set of a play 35 years ago. The play was "6 Rooms River View" and Dan played leading man to Marian's leading lady. Still a romantic, Dan quips, "She's been my leading lady ever since!" Together, they have performed in plays, television shows, and movies such as "The Heat of The Night"  and "Remember the Titans."  Dan describes the life of acting as either, "working like crazy or going to lunch." He and Marian also like to travel. On a South American tour, Dan started taking pictures. These phototograph's are their view of the world, so they framed them and hung them in their home. When Dan's agent saw one of the photo's, she asked if it was for sale. Seeing the opportunity, Dan said, "Of course!"

From then on Dan and Marian have toured art shows and festivals. They also opened their own studio in Atlanta, GA. One of the most interesting aspects of Dan's photography is the way in which the art is framed. All of the frames are antique doorframes, window panes and other found materials. The frames showcase the art beautifully.  Dan and Marian's work can be seen at this year's Carmel International Arts Festival, one of Carmel's biggest festivals on Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, September 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Carmel Arts & Design District.
