Classic Cakes’ upcoming Indy Cake Off event may have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but owner Megan Ritz did not want this to stop her from providing moments of joy to the community.

In an effort to stay connected to the community and encourage social distancing, Classic Cakes launched these programs:

  • The Cake Fairy: customers can purchase a cake for a friend or family member to be dropped off at their doorstep.
  • Cake it Yourself: a cake-decorating kit including a 8" cake, buttercream and sprinkles.
  • Cake Video Series: online videos with tips on decorating cakes
  • Cake Donations: 100% of donations are used to make cakes for emergency and community support workers.

Their next big project is to donate a cupcake to each of the 3,000 person staff at Riley Hospital. Classic Cakes staff is volunteering personal time, but looks to the community help offset the costs with donations to their website. General Mills made a donation to get this project started.

Once the cupcakes are ready to go, the Cake Fairy will deliver the donations to Riley Hospital employees as a “Thank You” from the entire community for everything they are doing to keep children safe.
