This week, Emma Diebold, a member of our marketing staff, headed to Conner Prairie Interactive History Park to do a little fall "shopping." Last Friday afternoon I was sent on a very important mission: go to the Conner Prairie Apple Store and acquire tasty treats for the 8 Great Towns staff. The task sounded easy enough, but when I arrived I was overwhelmed with all of the apple-y choices. They have all kinds of apples from local orchards that can be purchased in different quantities. There are also apple suckers, apple cider, apple butter, candies, jams and their famous caramel apples. The caramel apples are hand dipped and are available with or without nuts and were definitely tempting. However, because there are some health conscious people in the office, I chose a different route. I picked a gallon of apple cider, a ½ peck of Macintosh apples and some individually wrapped caramels. The helpful sales lady assured me that the caramels were a great investment because they are the same onesused in the making of the caramel apples, meaning that they are the best of the best. She was right! They were seriously the best caramels I have ever had- so soft and sugary. Of course, the apples were delicious too. Everyone at the 8 Great Towns office agreed - the Conner Prairie Apple Store is a must when getting into the fall spirit! The Apple Store is open Tuesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. -5 p.m., now through October 30. Admission to Conner Prairie is NOT required to shop in the Apple Store.
