Torrential rain and baseball-sized hail did not prevent dozens of tourism friends and family from trekking to Conner Prairie Tuesday evening for a sneak preview of its new 1859 Balloon Voyage. We watched in horror as trees bent sideways in the late afternoon storm, but we were truly amazed as the safely moored giant helium balloon remained steadfast, barely moving in all that wind! It gave me great confidence, actually, in its durability! Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear, Indiana Reps. Jacque Clements and Cindy Noe, almost all of our Hamilton County Tourism Commission and Hamilton County Commissioner Christine Altman were among the many stalwart officials who joined staff and other bureau friends in celebrating the upcoming opening of this amazing exhibit. It's such a credit to Conner Prairie, long known for its innovation in museum work, to tie something so thrilling with a little known piece of history, and to help you learn something while you're having fun. As a history enthusiast who also is a marketing professional, for me it's the perfect combination. I can't wait to go back on a beautiful summer afternoon and take my voyage along with the thousands of other enthusiasts who already have expressed an interest. Another great thing on my list for summer outings in Hamilton County

Thanks to Hannah Lindgren for putting together the below video so quickly, watch for an up close and personal view of the Balloon! [youtube=www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY0kfZb9eqk&hl=en&fs=1]
