Again this week, we’ll be sharing fun ways to explore our 8 Great Towns. [caption id="attachment_2692" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Travel back to 19th-century Indiana at Conner Prairie"][/caption] A little time travel is always a fun option for Spring Break. Why not travel back in time to spend a day learning about 19th century life at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park? Help with chores, lend a hand to the town carpenter and visit the doctor in 1836 Prairietown before heading to the Conner Homestead . There you can meet pet baby goats, lambs and other furry friends in Animal Encounters. You also can take the 1859 Balloon Voyage, a breathtaking ride 350 feet above the prairie. New this year, you can become a Junior Aeronaut and learn to fly the balloon with one of Conner Prairie's certified pilots! You’ll discover how to read instruments, determine weather conditions and control the balloon. After a day of adventure, stop by the Nickel Plate Bar & Grill in Fishers for dinner. Bite into a crispy breaded tenderloin or try a bison burger. Kids can dig into their favorites like PB & J, grilled cheese or chicken fingers. This Hamilton County restaurant is a part of history too. The original building was constructed in the 1880s and served as the Parks Place Saloon. And, if you’re spending the night in Hamilton County, our hotel partners have Conner Prairie package deals to make your trip back in time a little more economical. Our last staycation stop will be in Carmel, Indiana. Watch for that blog post later this week!
