For the next few weeks, we'll be sharing fun ways to explore our 8 Great Towns. If you're planning an Indiana getaway or if you live in town and are planning a staycation, we have created a fun getaway itinerary for Westfield, Indiana. Asa Bales Park is one stop on your Westfield getaway Start your day at Stitches and Scones. If you get there early enough, owner Molli Cameron will greet you with fresh baked scones. You better get there by 10 a.m. (9 a.m. on Saturdays) because the scones go fast. While the baked goods are tasty, the real treat of this store are the racks and bins of yarns of every color, texture and feel. Even though I'm not a knitter, I can spend hours in this store, touching the skeins of yarn, looking over the buttons and talking with the knowledgeable staff. After you get your fill of Stitches and Scones, head over to Kelties for lunch. Kelties is just up the street so why not walk there? I suggest the Beef and Bleu salad, but that may be because I'm a sucker for salads with cranberries, candied pecans and bleu cheese crumbles. If you prefer chicken, try the Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad. This is the salad version of Keltie's popular Pecan Crusted Chicken entree and every bit as good. There are several sandwiches to choose from as well, including a great old fashion meatloaf sandwich. No matter what you choose, Keltie's always is filling. To work off lunch, take a walk through Asa Bales Park. Located in the center of downtown Westfield, the Park is named after one of Westfield's founders. It features walking paths, two pavilions, play areas and a skate park. This is a lovely way to enjoy a sunny afternoon and end a great day in the newest city in Indiana. Next week, we'll travel to Fishers for another fun Indiana getaway in one of our 8 Great Towns.
