One of the best things about living, visiting and playing in Hamilton County is the huge selection of fun, free outdoor activities! The 4th of July weekend is no exception-there will be plenty of special events and outdoor opportunities to choose from across our 8 Great Towns.
Celebrate our nation's Independence Day at one of Hamilton County's 4th of July celebrations. Noblesville will host a Parade and 4th of July Fest from 5-10pm on the Noblesville High School grounds, with a fireworks display at 10pm. "Lights Over Morse Lake" takes place at Cicero Community Park, where kids can join in some carnival fun starting and fireworks begin at 10pm on the 4th. Conner Prairie holds its "Glorious Fourth" exhibit during the day, and don't miss the "Star Spangled Symphony" musical and fireworks event in the evening! CarmelFest kicks off at 10:30am at the Carmel Civic Square-come for live music and kids' games, and stay for the fireworks at 9:45pm. Sheridan will also host a celebration on July 4th complete with a parade, live music and contests. And finally, "Westfield Rocks the 4th" starts at Asa Bales Park at 4pm and promises car shows, rock climbing, food vendors and of course, a dazzling fireworks show to top it off!
Extend the weekend fun (and beat the heat!) at the Monon Center Waterpark, where aquatic fun ranges from toddler pools to simulated surfing. Lace up your sneakers and hit the Monon Trail for some outdoor exercise, explore Strawtown Koteewi Park, or enjoy free live music at the Fishers Amphitheater for "Fridays After Dark." There's more than enough to do once the fireworks are over!
And don't forget Tenderloin Tuesdays: beginning today and continuing every Tuesday in July, participating local restaurants offer up delicious deals on the Hoosier specialty! As a Hamilton County CVB blogger, I had the chance to sample a few of these monstrous sandwiches, most recently at Nickel Plate Bar and Grill in Fishers. Their version of the sandwich comes grilled or breaded (go for breaded!) and fried to crispy golden perfection, piled on a Kaiser roll with all the fixings. The verdict? Not too thick, not too thin, with tons of flavor and just-right, thick-cut French fries on the side. It's the perfect Hoosier indulgence, so make sure to take advantage of these specials across Hamilton County!
