Jazz at the Palladium

As you know, the Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts opened in January. But did you know the Palladium has a Jazz Roots series? [caption id="attachment_3217" align="aligncenter" width="280" caption="Jazz Roots Series continues on March 26 with Three Generations of Divas"][/caption] I attended the first concert in their jazz series last Saturday. I had bought tickets to the Jazz Meets Gospel concert, featuring Take 6 and Yolanda Adams, as Christmas presents for my family. There is only one word to describe the concert: Wow! Take 6 treated the audience to their hit songs plus a few samplings from Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder and Prince. Yes, a little sample of Prince at the Palladium! The audience joined in a few numbers until Take 6 kicked it up a notch, way past the audience’s range.  Yolanda Adams belted out song after song, and the evening ended with Adams, Take 6 and the Calvary Temple gospel choir joining in a rousing version of “Victory. If you missed this concert, there are three more concerts in the jazz series: Three Generations of Divas; Celebrating Miles; and Super Sax, featuring David Sanborn and Candy Dulfer. One word of advice for first-timers to the Palladium: Get there early. You want to allow for plenty of time to walk around this beautiful building before your concert starts.
