This past weekend, my family spent some time getting out and about around town. We started our weekend on Saturday morning with a long trip to the Fishers Farmers Market. While here, I chased after our two year old son, Christopher, as my husband loaded up on fresh fruits, veggies, flowers (oh yeah, I happened upon some yummy local chocolate/peanut butter fudge created by Boyd's Fudge, an Indiana Artisan). My little guy loved the market - he patted dogs, smelled flowers, and danced to the live music -so it was a perfect morning for him. Once he finished his nap, we hopped in the car and headed to the Simply Sweet Shoppe in Carmel - this was a first time visit for both my husband and son, so I was excited to show them around. Christopher marveled at the colorful candy filled jars as my husband spent time picking out the perfect treat for himself. I personally left with a few turtles, a chocolate cheesecake ball, and a peanut butter filled something that was really good. After checking out each shelf, display, row and container - we happily left with our purchases. From here, we spent a little time walking around the Carmel Arts & Design District, just window shopping and chatting. We were steps away from a good, long walk on the Monon Trail - but the desire to gobble up our candy got the best of us. We spent Sunday splashing around at the Billericay Splash Park in Fishers. One great thing about Hamilton County is the little pocket parks that are everywhere - many of which offer free water areas. Armed with drinks and snacks, Chris was able to spend the day splishing and splashing with other children. I loved watching him laugh and smile as he ran around in the water (just a warning, the water was REALLY cold at first, it took a moment to get used to). It was the perfect way to end the perfect weekend! For more information on Hamilton County, Indiana fun family getaways visit us online at
