Our guest blogger this week is Trey Radcliff. Trey recently graduated from Westfield High School with academic honors. He is interning with the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau this summer and will attend Ball State University this fall. Last week, I was in Carmel, Indiana, walking around downtown in the Carmel Arts and Design District. Near the Monon Trail, I saw a restaurant that was just bursting with life. People were lined up outside the door just to get in! The restaurants name was Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream. It looked as if the restaurant was built out of an old style house with very vibrant colors. Being right on the Monon Trail, Bub's is in the perfect location. Who doesn't want to take a pit stop to chow down on some burgers and ice cream? (I know I do.) Bub's has indoor and outdoor seating, including a party room on the second floor that one can rent out. The food is very American-style, consisting of items from delicious waffle fries to spicy chicken wings to a half-pound hotdog. During my visit, something caught my eye on the menu. It said, "THE BIG UGLY." A mouth-watering one-pound burger served on a huge bun topped with everything. It was a challenge. All along the walls are pictures of people who have conquered this beast of a burger. You get a small picture for eating one, a mid-sized photo for eating two, and a large poster put on the wall for eating three! Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream is a great family restaurant. The atmosphere is alive and inviting. The ice cream shop on the left side of Bub's helps bring in more than just customers wanting a sit-down meal. This restaurant is a great part of downtown Carmel, and it is the place to be. So if you take a ride along the Monon and stop into Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream, you are bound to have a great time!
