One of my favorite things about Indiana is that the seasons change. Leaves turn bright shades of orange, red and yellow in the fall; white snow covers the ground in the winter; and the grass turns a vibrant shade of green in the spring. While I love the changing seasons, I do miss the fun outdoor concerts, farmers markets, park visits of spring, summer and fall. So, when it gets too cold to do those fun outdoor activities- I eat! Every week this winter I will highlight 1 of my favorite Hamilton County, Indiana restaurants. As a foodie (my definition of foodie is simply someone who loves to eat), I will happily talk about the small diners, the hole in the wall eateries, the fancy French bistros, the big restaurants and more. NOW, onto the good stuff - enjoy, and feel free to share your own favorite Hamilton County, Indiana dining spots!

Bub's - Tucked along the Monon Trail in the Carmel Arts & Design District is a small family-owned restaurant specializing in the Big Ugly Burger. Thinking about taking on this monstrous one-pound burger? Well, keep in mind that not only is the burger HUGE (it starts at 22 ounces before being cooked), but it is also tasty (they use only fresh, handpattied ground beef for the burger). My husband took on the challenge of eating the burger in its entirety and now is proud to see his photo hanging on the Wall of Fame. While Bub's may be known for their burgers, they do offer more - my more healthy conscious friends and co-workers love the Mahi Mahi. Also, on a hot summer day nothing is better then stopping in from a long walk on the Monon and gobbling up a cold cup of ice cream. The atmosphere at Bub's is casual; friends and family can gather for a great meal and great conversation. The main dining area is a big open room, and the walls are covered from top to bottom with photos of those who beat the burger challenge. In the summer, waiting for a table can be a fun thing - the Monon Trail is right next to the door, and the galleries and shops of the Carmel Arts & Design District are just a few steps away. Just a few blocks south of Bub's Burgers is Bub's Cafe, which is owned by the same family. This little breakfast place will one day get a post of it's very own, but in the meantime, keep them in mind if you are craving a Big Stack of pancakes!
