Every week this winter, we will highlight one of our Hamilton County, Indiana restaurants. This week, we were on the lookout for something simple and filling and we found it at the Uptown Café in Noblesville. "Create Your Own Omelet - One of the Choices at Uptown Cafe"
Uptown Café is exactly what a café should be a laid-back place to find a great, flavorful meal. It is the perfect place to stop by for breakfast or lunch. Since it's on Noblesville's historic town square, it is a great spot for people watching or a good chat with a friend. For my visit to Uptown Café, I took one of my best friends, my 10-year-old daughter. I had heard about the mythical chicken and waffles, so I decided to give the Uptown Café version a try. For those of you who have never heard of chicken and waffles, picture two crispy waffles, smothered with gravy with shredded chicken on top. The Uptown Café version has a twist; a sweet jalapeño relish added into the mix.
I must admit I forgot about the jalapeño's kick on my first bite, but after I slowed down, I liked the mix of flavors. My daughter ordered the kids' pancakes and added chocolate chips. For just $5, she had a huge stack of deliciousness. I had to stop her from forcing herself to finish her whole plate. She so wanted to finish the last bite! Check out their breakfast and lunch menus, and you'll see that Uptown Café adds flavor to every dish. For example, their all-natural honey-nut granola comes with pecans, walnuts, almonds, dried cherries and dried cranberries.
While they typically they are only open until 3 p.m. on Tuesdays through Fridays (and 2 p.m. on weekends), the Uptown Café is planning a special Valentine's Day dinner. While we were there, one patron made his reservation. Smart man, since the special menu looks fabulous and we expect Uptown Café will create a simple, elegant and romantic dining experience. Part of what makes Uptown Café special is their excellent service. Thanks, Tenika for a great experience. We'll be back!
