Restaurant of the Week - Vine & Table
Monday, February 7, 2011 by Hamilton County Tourism
Every week this winter, we will highlight one of our Hamilton County, Indiana, restaurants. This week, we wanted to go upscale for lunch, so we visited Vine & Table Gourmet Market in Carmel, Indiana. [caption id="attachment_3158" align="aligncenter" width="147" caption="Enjoy one of the great soups at the Vine & Table Cafe'"][/caption] While they are known for their wine selection, Vine & Table also has a pretty impressive café menu that includes soups, salads, cheese boards, sandwiches and sushi. You can choose something simple like one of their café sandwiches or go for a unique option like their pork berry and blue sandwich, which features roasted pork loin, maple-glazed ham, peppered bacon, blue cheese, spinach and blackberry jam. Their café menu is available Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Vine & Table is truly a foodies dream. Their gourmet market has a large selection from three of our favorite food groups: cheese, chocolate and wine. Select from cheeses made from Indiana artisans or from one of their cheeses from around the world. If you’re looking for chocolate, you’ll find chocolate creations from Godiva, Joseph Schmidt, Valrhona, Ghyslain and Endangered Species Chocolate. We strongly suggest you try our personal favorite, Ghyslain, a one-of-a-kind chocolate made in Indiana. These smooth, creamy, hand-painted chocolates are almost too beautiful to eat. Almost. As you might imagine, Vine & Table has an extensive list of wines. Free tastings are scheduled each Saturday. Or you can attend one of their Pick 24 Release parties. On the first Wednesday of each month they open all 24 wines in the current month’s Pick 24 selection. You can sample and learn about each wine and enjoy specialty snacks from their gourmet market. The cost is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. For information on the latest specials and seasonal offerings from Vine & Table, read their newsletter, The Fresh Press or follow them on Twitter (@vineandtable).
