It's that time in winter when all you want to do is remain as cozy and warm as possible. Hamilton County has the solution in the form of comfort foods! Whether you'd like to try a new recipe or let someone else do the cooking, there are plenty of options.

If you're a fan of staying in, try a recipe from our Chowtown board on Pinterest. There you'll find out how to make Chowtown favorites like the tenderloin, bread pudding, and more. For historical flare, try a Conner Prairie Hearthside-Receipt (old-school for recipe). This collection includes wintery favorites like hot-spiced cider, winter vegetable soup and biscuits. Take care in reading and preparing the dishes, some of the measurements are a little unusual and old fashioned!

If you'd rather leave the prepping and cooking to a professional, head out to a local Hamilton County restaurant for a warm meal. One of our favorite places for a good bowl of soup is Dooley O'Toole's which is best known for their Chicken Velvet soup. "It's got a little curry in it, which makes it unique and very delicious," explained our staffer Judy.

For an entire comforting meal, try Matteo's in Noblesville. Their huge portions of home-style Italian food will both warm and fill you up. I'm personally a fan of the spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli, it's so tasty and vegetarian too! For a Hamilton County specialty, head to the Nickel Plate Bar & Grill in Fishers. There you'll find the classic huge breaded tenderloin that will certainly satisfy.

For those that prefer the traditional comfort foods, attend Hearthside Suppers at Conner Prairie where you will learn how to prepare a 19th century meal and then devour it! Or for a new twist on classic comfort dishes, read my previous post for the Indiana Insider Blog. It will help you discover new dishes like a BBQ sundae and other crazy comfort creations right here in Hamilton County!
