Just because it's cold outside, doesn't mean the fun stops in Hamilton County, Indiana.

You can learn about the early settlers' way of life during the winter months at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park Thursdays through Sundays. For example, in the Craft Corner kids can work on 19th century arts and crafts and learn to make soap, a jump rope, beads or a quilt square. Conner Prairie is offering free admission in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day on January 17. In addition to arts and crafts in the Discovery Station, families can explore the outdoors during a scavenger hunt, visit with the baby goats, calves and lambs, make a card for U.S. troops overseas and discover more about famous African Americans. If you like to ice skate, check the weekend public skating hours for The Carmel Ice Skadium or The Arctic Zone in Westfield. In addition to these and other indoor activities, there is plenty to do out-of-doors. Bundle up, breathe in the cold air and get active with the Hamilton County Parks' winter activities. Visit with a Hoosier Pioneer on January 22 or join in a beginning bird hike on select Sundays at Cool Creek Park. Shopping is a year-round activity in downtown Noblesville. Clay Terrace in Carmel and Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville offer hundreds of shopping options. Spend an afternoon discovering the unique works of 10 local artists at Artists on the Square Gallery or browse through the 40 shops located in Logan Village Mall in historic Noblesville. And a winter's day isn't complete without a hearty meal. You can enjoy your favorite comfort foods at the Uptown Cafe in Noblesville, Alice's Restaurant in Arcadia or one of the many other cozy restaurants across the county.
