1. Total Solar Eclipse

On April 8, 2024 a total solar eclipse passed over Hamilton County, and visitors and residents experienced totality for the first time in 819 years. Roughly 89,600 visitors came to witness a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. The next opportunity to see this natural phenomenon in the contiguous United States won’t happen until Aug. 23, 2044.

 

2. Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie

“Raise your glass” to this event for selling 57,579 tickets this spooky season, even including singer-songwriter, P!nk!

 

3. Taylor Swift

What better way to end Taylor Swift’s U.S. concert tour than in Indiana on Nov. 1-3, 2024. Hamilton County fans celebrated in “style” with 45 themed Taylor Swift events.

 

4. Christkindlmarkt

Won Best Tourist/Seasonal Attraction from the Indianapolis Community’s Choice Awards.

 

5. Grand Park

The ultimate sports destination scored big this year by welcoming 3.1 million and counting visitors.

Lucas Oil Stadium had the honor to host the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials on June 15-23, 2024. Hamilton County is proud to see six Hoosiers make their mark at the Olympics.

 

  1. Drew Kibler, Carmel | 2nd place/silver medalist in men’s swimming 4x200-meter freestyle relay
  2. Noah Malone, Fishers | 1st place/gold medalist in 100-meter T-12, 2nd place/silver medalist in 400-meter T-12and 3rd place/bronze medalist in universal relay (open) in men’s track Paralympics
  3. Rajeev Ram, Carmel | 2nd place/silver medalist in men’s tennis doubles
  4. Aaron Shackell, Carmel | men’s swimming 400-meter freestyle
  5. Alex Shackell, Carmel | 1st place/gold medalist in women’s swimming 4x100-meter medley, 2nd place/silver medalist in women’s swimming 4x200-meter freestyle relay
  6. Luke Whitlock, Noblesville | men’s swimming 800-meter freestyle

Wrapped - Breaking Records

In 2024, Ruoff Music Center had their biggest lineup of music magic yet by hosting 48 concerts. Hamilton County Tourism received 16,239 entries for concert ticket giveaways. Plus, Dave Matthews Band provided a zero-waste fan experience–a first for Ruoff Music Center!

Wrapped - New Listeners

 

Hamilton County Tourism welcomed “227 new listeners” or gold partnerships that continues to help Hamilton County grow and thrive to be a must-visit destination.

 

Hamilton County Tourism helped the Hamilton County Sports Authority (HCSA) make their debut on Aug. 1, 2024. With this brand launch, this new sector will pave the way for Hamilton County to have a strong future in sports.

Hamilton County is home to many landmarks and this year, we added two more! We greeted Hotel Nickel Plate on April 24, 2024, in the heart of Fishers. Soon, we will say hello to the Fishers Event Center on Nov. 22, 2024, and become a popular venue for events and entertainment.
