  • Overview

The Carmel Marathon (a Boston Marathon Qualifying race) attracts runners from around the country to compete for a cash prize purse and enjoy the large-scale marathon event feel. Last year's event attracted participants from 43 states and 4 countries and sent 22.5% of the field home with a Boston Qualifying finish.

The revised course unveiled in 2018 will be used again in 2020. Check out the course here.

New in 2020! The Marathon course will be capped at 1200 participants.

The start and finish lines are located north of the Palladium at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and City Center Drive. Runners and spectators enjoy the unique opportunity of seeing their friends, family or running partners start and finish in the same location. Staging starts at 7:30 a.m. with opening ceremonial remarks and National Anthem beginning at 7:45 a.m. followed by the 8 a.m. official start.

This walker-friendly event has a maximum course time of 6.5 hours after the last marathoner and half marathoner cross the start line, or until approximately 2:30 p.m. (15 minute pace/mile). The marathon course highlights the picturesque views of Hamilton County, Carmel Clay Parks trails and the Arts and Design District before returning to the Center for the Performing Arts.

Gender-specific technical shirts will be provided for all pre-registered participants and a custom marathon finisher's medal will be awarded as you cross the finish line.
