Indianapolis Opera: Carmen

Join us at The Tarkington at The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel on November 10-12, 2023 for Georges Bizet’s Carmen. Led by Director Layna Chianakas and Maestro Alfred Savia, this spectacular must-see production features famous operatic arias that you are sure to recognize, like the "Habanera" and "Toreador Song.” Set in Spain, this spicy story follows the beautiful and fiery gypsy Carmen (Mezzo-soprano Nina Nelson, Lyric Opera of Chicago, in her role debut) as she seduces handsome soldier Don José (Tenor Adam Diegel, Metropolitan Opera), who abandons the military along with his sweetheart, Micaëla (world-renowned Soprano Kearstin Piper Brown, San Francisco Opera).  With fortune telling, bull fighting, and flamenco dancing, this passionate opera is filled with Spanish flavor and unforgettable moments!
