Meyer Najem Showcase: Sydney McQuade Otto

Nickel Plate Arts partner Meyer Najem Construction has transformed the second story of their beautiful new Fishers building into a bright, modern, open space, perfect for featuring the contemporary works of our local artists. With a passion for supporting the local arts community, Meyer Najem will host art exhibits viewable to the public from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m, Monday–Friday. For the months of January–March, Nickel Plate Arts is excited to bring local painter and sculptor Sydney McQuade Otto to the Meyer Najem gallery space. 

Sydney McQuade Otto is an artist inspired by stone or weathered walls; a gesture, the flow and artistry of haute couture fashion. Sydney’s relationship with art began with a gift of oil paints at the age of seven. A largely-self taught artist, she was introduced to abstract art through her uncle, Justin Snow, a noted abstract painter. Justin's paintings hung on the walls of her childhood home and he continues to be an important influence in Sydney’s painterly world.

Sydney’s showcase, “The Collected Works of Sydney McQuade Otto” is just that – an exhibition of her mysterious and evocative abstract expressionist works. Although her paintings follow no particular conventions, her work can be recognized by the soft melding of color.
