Hospitality Immersion Certificate Program

Students can learn the real world of hospitality, tourism and management and earn up to 18 college credits through Hamilton County, Indiana's Hospitality Immersion Certificate Program. This one-of-a-kind college credit opportunity allows students to gain valuable paid field experience in one of Indiana’s hottest tourism destinations: Hamilton County.

A partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, IU’s School of Physical Education and Tourism Management and Hamilton County Tourism, Inc., is currently open to Westfield High School students. This program readies students for the real world of hospitality management and graduates can earn up to 18 hours of college credit.

Here are the details:

  • Begin taking the intro classes your sophomore year, but you join the program your junior or senior year
  • Take one or all of the following classes:
  • Classes include:
    • Introduction to the Tourism Industry (3 Credits)
    • The Tourism System (3 Credits)
    • Principles of Event Management (3 Credits)
    • Lodging Management & Operations (3 Credits)
    • Business Administration (3 Credits)
    • Principles of Marketing (3 Credits)
  • All courses transfer to or through Ivy Tech Community College to Indiana University’s Tourism, Conventions and Event Management degree program
  • Even if you decide not to pursue a major at IUPUI, your credits may transfer to other programs in the state or elsewhere, or use the credits to support a minor in event, tourism and hospitality management support
  • An important requirement of the program is to work in some sector of hospitality management
