Indiana veteran-specific benefits include free or discounted college tuition for children of disabled vets, college tuition for Purple Heart Recipients, Property tax deductions, and reduced rates for hunting and fishing licenses for Indiana resident veterans.
The Honor Our Vets homebuyer program offered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) is specifically designed to keep and welcome qualified active duty, veterans and retired military personnel to the state.
Several organizations also offer employment transition seminars and assistance.
Community Programs
Fishers Hometown Help for Heroes – developed to coordinate the community’s public and private resources to alleviate burdens for families of deployed servicemen and women. Services include snow removal, lawn mowing and trimming services. The Fishers Department of Public Works manages the program for eligible families.

Veteran’s Day Ceremony at City Hall November 11 honoring local veterans who have courageously served in the armed forces. The free ceremony is open to the public.
Memorial Day Ceremony- Liberty Plaza in front of City Hall as we honor fallen service members in our community and nation-wide. This ceremony is free and open to the public.
National Vietnam War Veterans Day- March 29th City Hall
Join the City of Fishers, a Commemorative Partner of the Vietnam War Commemoration, as we recognize veterans and their families who served during the Vietnam War period
Carmel
Veterans Day l Ceremony is a community annual event that honors, thanks and pays tribute to veterans. The event is held at noon the business day before Veterans Day and is free and open to the public.
