Art Lover Itinerary in Hamilton County, Indiana
Take a break and head out for an arts-inspired getaway in Hamilton County, Indiana – just north of Indy. There’s no shortage of local foods and spirits to enjoy or shops and outdoor public art to safely browse. In fact, three communities in Hamilton County are official state-designated cultural arts districts.
What to Expect:
- Stay in our newest boutique hotel, the Hotel Carmichael.
- Stroll the Monon Trail and craft brew hop.
- Be inspired by a pop-up Riverwalk exhibit that celebrates the Midwest.
- Dine outside as the autumn sun sets.
Day 1
Check-in at your overnight accommodations – we recommend the new chic Hotel Carmichael in Carmel.
Enjoy an evening stroll along the Monon Trail in Carmel, and along the way stop at Sun King Brewing in Midtown for a hand-crafted cocktail and Union Brewing Company for beer flights and a great fire pit. Finish at divvy for tapas al fresca, located in Carmel's City Center.
Insider Tip: When you walk the Carmel Arts & Design District and Monon Trail, reference our handy public art map to easily find great local art.
Day 2
Make your way from Carmel to Noblesville for a breakfast on the patio at Rosie’s Place on the Historic Noblesville Square.
Insider Tip: Take two Ooey Gooey butter cookies for the trip home– one isn’t enough.
While on the Square, visit Nickel Plate Arts for a unique local art gallery experience. Then, stroll the Riverwalk for a special pop-up exhibit, Reflections on the Riverwalk, which includes 21 thoughtful excerpts of writings by Midwest authors.
If you are in town on a Saturday morning, browse local produce and artisan goods at the Noblesville Farmers Market.
We recommend lunch at Courtney's Kitchen, located just off the Square. Or, if you are in the mood for a burger, try Bru Burger.
Take the afternoon to relax in Forest Park, Federal Hill Commons or hanging out by the White River.
Finish the day with live music and a glass of wine outside at Urban Vines Winery & Brewery in Westfield. If you are looking for some other options closer to State Road 31 or 32, there are plenty of options on Park Street. If you are looking for cool patio dining with live music try Chiba or The Italian House on Park for great Italian, pasta and wine.
Day 3
After a fun-filled day, savor an unforgettable breakfast at Vivante at Hotel Carmichael or nearby Eggshell Bistro.
Shop in the Carmel Arts & Design District before heading home. Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery or Silver in the City are great places to pop in for a souvenir or unique gift.
If time allows, you will have to eat at The Cake Bake Shop. They have large slices of their decadent cake to share for the ride home.
