With hotel deals and other special offers, you can enjoy fall open-air experiences, picnics and memorable moments you’ll cherish.

Select a comfortable hotel for your stay, like hotels with pools or pet-friendly accommodations.

Things to Do:

  • From science to history, Conner Prairie is a fun one-stop learning experience.
  • Don’t forget art class. Enjoy safe, hands-on fun at one of many kid-friendly locations.
  • Read literature and poems from Midwest authors at the pop-up exhibit, Reflections on the Riverwalk.
  • Immerse yourself in the history of hundreds of years of indigenous peoples at Strawtown Koteewi Park.

Day 1

Travel back in time with a full autumn day outdoors at Conner Prairie, an interactive history museum. Learn about early settlement life, nature and science in this 1,000-acre wonderland. From Native American cultures to early transportation, this nationally-recognized outdoor experience makes learning fun. Picnic foods are available on-site so you can take a break, rest your feet and talk about your experiences.

Insider Tip: if weather permits, ride the 1859 Balloon Voyage 350 feet into the air for the best views of fall foliage and the corn maze.

It takes a full day to enjoy Conner Prairie, so kick back and enjoy specialty pizza at a local restaurant like Passione in Fishers – and don't skip gelato.

Day 2

Kick-off the day with a hearty breakfast menu at The Roost in Fishers.

Create jewelry, spin pottery, take an art class or simply draw a picture at Ignite Art Studio in Fishers.

Enjoy a great meal at one of the many new restaurants in the Fishers District. Some of the more popular places include HC Tavern, Sun King Brewery and Sangiovese Ristorante.

Time for English class by the river. The Riverwalk features an autumn pop-up exhibit, Reflections by the River, where you can stroll and enjoy the sunshine while reading quotes from famous Midwest authors, with guided learning questions to create lasting conversations.

Who doesn’t love a fall afternoon? Head up to the 750-acre Strawtown Koteewi Park for lessons in local Native American history and archaeology. See structures that once stood on this land and learn about centuries of indigenous settlements there, walk along the White River, ride a horse at K-Trails Equestrian Adventures or simply take in the beauty of the restored prairie.

School is out for the day, and now it’s time to enjoy a large plate of delicious pasta at DeLullo’s Trattoria in Cicero and walk to Morse Reservoir for ice cream at Alexander’s on the Water, followed by a sunset stroll along the causeway for incredible waterside views.

Day 3

Visit any of the several farm markets in the morning. There is plenty of farm-fresh foods to try and buy. Carmel has one of the largest farm markets in the county.

For a final history lesson, head to Westfield, once settled by Quaker families and a central stopping point on the Underground Railroad. Walkthrough Asa Bales Park to understand how important this community was to African Americans fleeing slavery in the south.

If you need one more snack before you go, pop into Cone + Crumb for a piece of “slab pie.”
