Fall Golf Getaway Itinerary in Hamilton County, Indiana

Hit the links on Indiana’s Premier Golf courses and enjoy championship quality golf with the beauty of fall colors in Hamilton County, Indiana - just north of Indy. Our golf community is nationally-known for its challenging courses and stunning greenways.

Golf is the ideal social-distance activity, and you can tee off solo or with a small group of close friends. Courses in Hamilton County are taking extra sanitary precautions to keep you safe while on the green.

Day 1

Morning Round at Bear Slide Golf Club

Start your day at Bear Slide Golf Club in Cicero. The front nine is a Scottish links-style and the back nine is more traditional and tree-lined. Be prepared for a challenge, as the elevation and slope changes throughout the course. Bear Slide was named the 14th Best Golf Course in the United States in 2018, and has a 4.8 out of 5 rating on GolfAdvisor.

Lunch at Boathouse Kitchen & Swan Dive

Drive five minutes east of the golf course to enjoy a lakeside lunch at Boathouse Kitchen & Swan Dive. Sit outside on the covered patio for epic waterside views of Morse Reservoir. Entrees include steak salad, BBQ chicken flatbread, Boathouse beefsteak sandwich and classic burgers. Wash it down with a beer or house cocktail.

Afternoon Round at Purgatory Golf Club

Head east to tee off at another northern Hamilton County gem, Purgatory Golf Club - your “gateway to golfing heaven.” This “sinfully” long yet playable course provides a unique game for any skill level. There are a minimum of six sets of tees at each hole, and when you play from the Purgatory tees, the course is a daunting 7,700 yards. This is the longest course in Indiana and the longest, non-mountain par-72 course in the world.

Dinner at Four Day Ray Brewing

Travel south on SR-37 for dinner at Four Day Ray Brewing in downtown Fishers’ Nickel Plate District. The restaurant’s moniker recalls the area’s history, drawn from the nickname for a railroad employee who calls off work one day a week. FDR's best-selling menu item is the Indiana breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, made in batter featuring their Air Raid Pale Ale. Beer lovers should check out the other core beers, including Peanut Butter Porter and Blood Orange Blonde.

Drinks and Play at Topgolf

Wind down for the day with drinks and casual play at Indiana’s only Topgolf location, just across I-69 in Fishers. Reserve one of 100+ climate-controlled hitting bays for target practice, using micro-chipped golf balls to keep track of every shot. Or, relax on the rooftop terrace with fire pit and enjoy the sunset.

Day 2

Morning Round at Prairie View Golf Club

Kick-off day two at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. It’s among the top courses in Indiana and has hosted nearly all major Indiana PGA and Indiana Golf Association championships. Prairie View challenges players with an open front and several holes surrounded by tall, native grasses. With 90 bunkers and several lakes, this course offers 18 holes of challenging play on 200+ acres of Indiana’s most scenic prairie land.

Lunch at Big Lug on the Prairie

If you’re hankering for lunch, settle in at Big Lug on the Prairie, located on-site. Grab some wings, nachos, burgers and sandwiches while overlooking a panoramic view of the course. Or, explore more of the area and head to the Carmel Arts & Design District to enjoy one of the many eateries, like The Pint Room. Its known for the burger menu, with offerings like the PBB & J (peanut butter, bacon and jam) as well as 100+ craft beers on tap.

Afternoon Round at Wood Wind Golf Club

End your weekend with a round of golf at Wood Wind Golf Club in Westfield. This 18-hole championship golf course includes rolling hills, winding creeks and more than 90 bunkers. Wood Wind also offers a 17-acre practice green with putting and chipping greens.

Dinner at Field Brewing

Toast to a golf getaway well spent with dinner and drinks at Field Brewing in downtown Westfield. The menu includes savory dishes like smoked pork shoulder and shareable apps such as Field fries and bacon maple Brussels sprouts. Raise a glass full of a flagship beer, including Backroads Amber Lager, Field Pilsner and Shift Change IPA.
