Summer is approaching, and for close to 15 years now, baseball and softball teams from all over fill the diamonds across Hamilton County. Several top events will return to Grand Park again this season, including the largest prep baseball summer championship in the county and another that is the most highly recruited event in the Midwest.
Early June will see 372 baseball teams come in for the 13U and 14U Amateur Baseball Championships and the Prep Baseball Tournaments World Series. The PBT event draws teams from 7U to 12U.
The Indiana June Games and Grand Park Frenzy will bring 354 teams to Westfield from June 11-15. A week later, 430 teams will come for another pair of events. The Midwest Prospect League will host 300 teams aged 13-17, and the Youth Amateur Baseball Championships D1 event, with 100+ more, will bring the best youth teams aged 8-12. The MPL event is expected to draw more than 250 college baseball coaches, making it the most visibly-recruited baseball event in the Midwest.
At the end of June, two more events will keep the diamonds full. The Prep Baseball Grand Park Summer Championships and the Youth Amateur Baseball Championships D2 are expected to bring in 336 teams. According to Michael Tucker of Bullpen Ventures, the summer championships event, June 26-30, is the largest prep baseball championship event in the nation.
