The Fishers Event Center is versatile enough for any event, but 50 dates during its first nine months will be hosting pro sports.
The Indy Fuel have 36 home nights this winter, running from early December through April. Affiliated with the Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford franchise, the Indy Fuel are in their 11th season after playing a decade at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The Fuel play in the East Coast Hockey League, which is now in its 37th season and has put more than 700 players in the NHL.
The Fuel front office team also operates the Fishers Freight, a new professional indoor football league franchise in the 15-team IFL. The FEC will host eight home games during spring and summer for the Freight, which just released its season schedule. The team recently hired its first head coach in Dixie Wooten, who owns an 85-38 career coaching record.
The Indy Ignite of the Pro Volleyball Federation has also announced its first head coach in George Padjen and will be releasing its season schedule soon. The Ignite’s schedule begins in late January and runs through mid-May. The first PVF championship was held last spring and was won by the Omaha Supernovas, who drew more than 10,000 fans for the final match.
