There have been a lot of firsts happening in Fishers recently. The first contests for pro hockey and volleyball in a new arena. The first concerts and entertainment acts of all kinds in the new Fishers Event Center.

The firsts continue this month when the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) All-Star Match comes to Fishers on Saturday, Feb. 22. CBS will carry the event live at 1:30 p.m. ET that day, marking the first sporting event in Hamilton County to be aired over network television since the fall of 2016.

“That is huge for the league,” said Rob Carolla, VP of Public and Media Relations for the PVF. “When you get that exposure, you can put the best of the best in front of a national audience.”

The expansion franchise Indy Ignite has drawn great crowds and enjoyed early success in Fishers for a second-year league that reached paid attendance surpassing 400,000 in its first year. Carolla noted that the league saw the Ignite thriving immediately and reached out as a potential all-star host. The Ignite and HCSA staff have been working with the PVF team for months on various host responsibilities, preparing for the all-star event.

“Indy and Fishers made a lot of sense with a new facility and all the excitement there. The venue is doing it the right way. They’ve been fantastic. It was an easy decision for the league, and the greater Indy market has shown it can host great events, no matter the sport,” Carolla said.

The excitement around the all-star festivities has already been building with the release of the official all-star logo, tickets going on sale, and the announcement of Olympic legend Shawn Johnson East as celebrity host. The rosters for the match are determined by a fan vote, with more than 6,000 ballots already being submitted. Voting for the rosters runs through February 7.

The PVF, which now has eight teams and momentum to expand further, said it garnered more than 4 million views on YouTube in 2024. The league announced more than 45,000 fans attended the opening weekend of action in January.
