In 2006, Hamilton County Sports Authority (HCSA) hosted the Indiana Senior Games, a series of sporting events for athletes aged 50 and older. The Games brought together athletes from across the state to compete in various sports, including track and field, swimming, basketball, tennis, and more. As Indiana's only national qualifier for the National Senior Games, the event became a significant part of the state's sports calendar.

This event was a milestone for Hamilton County, marking the first major event hosted by the Hamilton County Sports Authority since starting in 2005. The collaboration between HCSA and the event organizers was a resounding success, largely thanks to Hamilton County’s world-class facilities, experienced staff, and strong community support. The Games were praised for their smooth organization, quality of competition, and overall experience for participants.

The event's success led to Indiana Senior Games' decision to award Hamilton County a multi-year hosting contract. This contract ensured that Hamilton County would continue to host the games in subsequent years, cementing the county’s reputation as a hub for athletic competition and boosting the local economy through sports tourism. It also strengthened the broader mission of the of the Senior Games, which is to celebrate the athletic achievements of senior citizens and encourage lifelong fitness.
