Westfield, IN and Colorado Springs, CO (August 13, 2026) — USA Archery, in partnership with Hamilton County Sports Authority, has confirmed that Droplight Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield will host a historic 143rd USA Archery Target Nationals and 2027 U.S. Open from August 11-15.
Next year’s Target Nationals will also include the Stage 1 2028 Olympic Team Trials Qualification event which, for the first time, will include a compound archery competition. The Stage 2 2028 Olympic Team Trials Qualification event will be held following the U.S. Open event.
Since archery returned to the Olympic Games in 1972 only recurve has been included. For LA 2028 compound will be included in the form of a mixed team event. As a result, Grand Park will host both recurve and compound archers chasing their dream of representing the United States at a home Games.
“We are delighted to be heading to Westfield for an archery first,” began USA Archery’s Interim CEO, Mary Emmons. “The Stage 1 2028 Olympic Trials Qualification event will allow for open registration, providing recurve and compound archers with a unique chance to make the USA Archery team for 2028.”

In addition, the second-ever United States Archery Team (USAT) Series Final boasting $50,000 in prize money – the first of which was a huge success this year will also take place – and only adds to what promises to be a memorable event at a world-class venue.”

One archer who has already confirmed he plans to be at the Stage 1 2028 Olympic Trials Qualification event is Matt Stutzman, who is also known as ‘The Armless Archer’, and the gold medalist at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Stutzman will aim to earn a place on the compound team, with the ultimate goal of becoming the first Paralympic gold medalist to win an Olympic gold medal in archery.
