HAMILTON COUNTY, IND. — Hamilton County Tourism board member Jeffrey Brown has announced his retirement from the board effective today. In recognition of his dedicated service, the board has established the Jeffrey Brown Award of Distinction, which will honor leaders in the county who embody the qualities and values exemplified by Brown.
Brown is the CEO for Schahet Hotels, leading the organization in its overall management of hotel development and operations. He has been with the organization since beginning his hospitality career in 1976.
In 2001, Amy Vaughan, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Tourism, Event Management and Sport Management at IU Indianapolis, appointed Brown to the Hamilton County Tourism board.
“I have long admired Jeffrey’s leadership in the hospitality industry at both the local, state and national level,” said Vaughan. “His twenty-three years of service to the Hamilton County Tourism Board of Directors has been invaluable to the development of the organization.”
The Jeffrey Brown Award of Distinction will be presented to individuals who demonstrate exceptional professionalism, leadership, longevity and achievement in tourism. Award recipients will be chosen by the Hamilton County Tourism board.
“It’s been a privilege to serve on the Hamilton County Tourism board alongside Jeffrey,” said Conner Prairie President & CEO and Hamilton County Tourism Board Chair Norman Burns. “The Jeffrey Brown Award will serve as a lasting tribute to his legacy, encouraging future leaders to follow in Jeffrey’s footsteps.”
