Down the Nickel Plate Trail -- Noblesville to Fishers

The Nickel Plate Trail is a rails-to-trails paved path following the former Nickel Plate Railroad corridor through Hamilton County, Indiana. The trail stretches more than 8 miles from downtown Noblesville south to the 96th Street trailhead in Fishers, where it continues into Indianapolis and connects with the Monon Trail. As one of the backbones of the HamCo Hubway, it also links to the Midland Trace Trail and the White River Greenway, so you can travel downtown to downtown on car-free paths.

Start at the north end near the historic courthouse square in downtown Noblesville, which is filled with restaurants, boutiques and antique shops. Heading south, stop at Delaware Township Trailhead Park, a new rest stop with restrooms, lawn games and a fire pit. In downtown Fishers, the Nickel Plate District puts the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater, a seasonal farmers market and a lineup of restaurants and breweries right along the trail. Take a break on the Monumental Stairs before passing through the lighted 116th Street tunnel. Near the south end, The 106 Plaza at Hub & Spoke offers a central lawn, urban swings and access to the Cheeney Creek Natural Area.

Parking and access points are available at Delaware Township Trailhead Park at 9094 E. 131st St., the Fishers municipal complex near 116th Street and The 106 Plaza at 8100 E. 106th St.
