What inspired you to start this business, and how does it reflect your cultural background or culinary passion?
My lifelong dream was to own a coffeeshop. The idea of connecting people over a table with great coffee and great food—well, that was what I dreamed of.
Why did you decide to open your business in Hamilton County?
We took the time to "shop around" and we wanted an area that had room in the community for what we were trying to do: to start a coffeeshop that roasted its own beans, served a unique food menu, and provided a quaint and welcoming atmosphere.
What have been some of your favorite moments in owning this establishment?
Without a doubt, getting to know our customers. Truly love being a part of our Westfield community.
What’s the can’t-miss item on your menu?
The waffles! No wait—the bacon spinach frittata! Or maybe the Sarah Lee Special.
What makes your business different from others?
Our menu is unique and we take great care to serve our customers well.
What’s next for your business?
We have opened our second Rivet location in the new Westfield Public Library. Next is our third location opening in September in Zionsville with Graham Rahal.
How does community come together around food or drink? What does “Around the Table” mean to you?
I think food and drink are a common way to bring people together, a way to connect. Whether it’s over a great cup of coffee or a delicious brunch, food evokes the opportunity to relax and enjoy your time together. "Around the Table" to me makes me think of times I spend with my family, laughing and enjoying time together.
In what ways does your business contribute to the overall culinary scene in Hamilton County and promote diversity within the community?
I feel like Rivet provides a bit of a different menu for our patrons to enjoy. Unique options.
Can you share a recipe for us to include?
Our Strawberry Nutella Waffle! Our yeast based Liege waffle is house-made and served with scratch made Nutella whipped sweet cream and fresh cut strawberries on top.
