Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most popular festivals in India. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy, featuring vibrant decorations, the lighting of lamps and the sharing of sweets among family and friends.
The Diwali Celebration will include offerings for purchase from several Carmel Indian restaurants, cold spark fireworks, performances representing the culture and traditions from across India and sharing of sweets. There will also be traditional lights to enjoy at the event and to take home.
The festival willl he hosted in a new location this year at Carter Green, located between The Palladium and The Tarkington Theater at the Center for the Performing Arts.
The celebration is free and open to the public.
