Kim made the big move to Hamilton County, Indiana, from the Washington, DC, metro area about a year and a half ago. She is Deaf and comes from a proud, third-generation Deaf family. Kim is happily married and has two wonderful sons—one hearing and one Deaf—and is also a loving grandmother to three!
Passionate about advocacy, Kim has dedicated her life to ensuring that Deaf individuals and children have the communication access they need. She played a key role in designing, developing, and implementing ASL Connect, an online platform for learning ASL. Her mission extends far beyond the U.S.—she has traveled to various countries to promote accessibility, including a trip to Tanzania, where she created a simple six-week course to help villages communicate with their Deaf community members.
At the heart of it all, Kim believes that communication is key to building meaningful relationships. Whether through writing, gesturing, pointing, or using an interpreter, she encourages everyone to make an effort when meeting a Deaf person—it can go a long way in creating true connections!
