Hamilton County’s events calendar fills up fast—and there’s always something unexpected in the mix. One standout event this summer is the Come and See Egyptian Festival, returning to Carmel on August 30. It’s a chance to explore Egyptian culture through food, music, and hands-on experiences.

Festival Origins
The name “Come and See” reflects the festival's spirit—welcoming, open, and rooted in community. The Coptic Orthodox Church was founded in 42 AD in Cairo and remains the largest in North Africa and the Middle East, representing about 15% of Egypt’s population. Fun Fact: The Copts are Egypt’s indigenous people, directly descended from the ancient Egyptians!
What to Expect
Carmel’s Egyptian Festival will feature live musical acts, a kids’ zone with a bounce house, and a raffle, among other activities like henna, face painting, and guided tours. However, the main draw is the food. Expect a variety of traditional Egyptian and Middle Eastern dishes, including hawawshi (spiced meat grilled inside pita), falafel, and strong, aromatic Turkish coffee.
